What is special about the Great Wall of China?
To the north of the Great Wall of China is the Great Wall of China, the largest wall in the world. The only man-made monument visible from space, the wall starts on the east coast of China and ends in the Gobi Desert to the northwest.
In 221 BC, Emperor Hwang-ti conquered small kingdoms and established the vast Chinese Empire. Emperor Huangti established peace and order in the country by ending internal warfare as he established a vast empire. He introduced uniform scripts and coins throughout the country. This brings economic stability and facilitates cultural exchange between people from different parts of the country. However, the common people could not live in peace. This is because a nomadic Turkish tribe called the Chiang from the north often looted villages and land in the border areas, taking away livestock and burning houses.

Some called the tribe Mongols because they came from Mongolia. Emperor Huangti built a large wall in northern China to protect against such attacks. The long wall, however, was not originally in its present shape. In the Chinese Empire and several states in northern China, the wall was in fragmentary form. In Chinese, the wall is called 'Wanli Chang Cheng', meaning, the Ten Thousand Li Long Wall. 'li' is the unit of length; It is about half a kilometer. The wall is made of stone, mud, and brick and is about 2,400 km long. Its height ranges from five meters to 10 meters in some places.
The top of this wall is four meters wide There are many observatories in the middle of the wall. These monitoring stations guard the border areas. The wall took 15 years to build and employed 300,000 people. The wall was completed between 221 and 207 BC. The present wall, however, was not entirely built during the reign of Huangti. The wall was later extended to many places and rebuilt in many places. It is now one of the tourist attractions in China. The Great Wall of China is the only man-made architecture on Earth that can be seen from space.
